merlinofchaos commentedCan you please be more explicit about what you've created and what you mean by 'this'? There's a lot of possible moving parts here and you haven't described what you've done very well at all, and it's not going to be possible to assist you without that information.
artatum commentedThx for helping me.(and others:-)
I'm able to pass an argument with views 'pages' but not with views 'context'
My views context is a selection of my last 'broadcast' (custom content type) according a taxonomy term passed in the url : broadcast/trackmania for example. I want a list of their titles only, with a pager beginning at row 2 and Ajaxified.
The view 'context' 'last_broadcasts':
- relationship to taxonomy term on node
- contextuel filter on (term) Taxonomy term: Name
- Use Panel path: yes
- Argument input ??? I tried with and without 'from context' and 'taxonomy term 'name' ... What should I choose ?
Another concern : I add a new context in this view, but it remains invisible into pagemanager/'add context' in list. Why?
The PM settings:
- So I added last_broadcasts 'context' (do I then have to add a relationship here, as I did in my view?)
- I added content, found views context 'last_broadcasts', selected 2,3,4,5..., title
and saved.
But now my taxo term isnt pass over to this panel, I see all my broadcasts, as in the same time it perfectly works on the panel left to it built upon my view 'page'.
Could you see what I'm doing wrong ?
merlinofchaos commentedContext displays on a view that require contexts will show up as relationships, not as contexts -- the idea being that contexts can exist on their own, but if you are taking one or more contexts, and then getting another, that's a relationship. You need to make sure the context type you select in the argument input in the context display matches the context you have available in the page, as well.
Does that help?
artatum commentedIn fact not at all. Could you be more precise : what do you call 'context displays' ?
Could you please start from my example, (that I described twice time... ) and point me on the step or screen or ...
I've tried to put some argument input in Views, then my context disappear in PM.
I also get
* Notice: Undefined index: context_view:dernieres_videos-ctools_context_1_1 in theme_ctools_context_list() (line 200 of /home/thewcul9/public_html/ng8/sites/all/modules/ctools/includes/context.theme.inc).

merlinofchaos commentedWhen you go to Views and create a new view, and on that view you add a 'context display', that is what I'm referring to. Isn't that what you said you created?
artatum commentedYes, ok. But is it normal that if I add an argument in Views/context/argument input/ choose 'from context' and 'taxonomy term name', then my context is disappearing in PM/add content?
I dont copy... It's impossible to see my context in PM and to set his argument input in Views ???
And in Views, about
"Use panel path : yes",
above, is this correct ?
merlinofchaos commentedWait, you're saying add content. So you added a content pane display to Views, not a context.
How about you attach exports of both the view and the page manager page, that way I don't have to guess and try to interpret. Unfortunately your use of language doesn't seem to be good enough for me to understand.
artatum commentedNo, no no.
I am NOT talking about adding a 'content pane' in Views,
but I am talking about creating a CONTEXT in view, then showing it up in Panel Manager, Content, 'add content' in a region... Then a display shows up with ...
views,
context,
views panes.
etc where I normally find my context...
BUT when I add an 'argument input' into VIEWS then this context disappears into 'add content' into PM.
Is this normal? because when I add an argument input, generally one could suppose it's for using it in a good sweet hot CONTEXT... Not to wipe OUT this context from PM.
One cannot be more precise... Now if you dont understand me, It lefts only screen copies...
Bug or me or what ?
well, it's the chaos in Chaos tools, and eveyone is K.O ... hips ;-)
merlinofchaos commentedYou are confused.
"Context" is not content.
If you have a context, it does not show up in "add content".
artatum commentedinto variant/panel/content/add content, yes it actually does sir, under the name 'VIEWS CONTEXT'
between 'taxonomy term' and 'views', yep.
And it displays pretty well but it doesnt get ...his argument from panel path....
merlinofchaos commentedThat's a categorization of content that uses a 'views context' to display parts of a view.
merlinofchaos commentedAlso, in English, we don't use gendered pronouns for anything that doesn't physically have a gender. When you say 'his' that means you're talking about a person, male, and that is making it very hard to interpret what you mean with the pronoun.
Anyway, I asked for an export, because that would allow me to know exactly what you're doing. If you don't want to provide it, I guess you'll have to figure it out on your own.
artatum commentedHi
Sorry for the delay. I'm pretty busy these days.
I would like to thank you for you very useful remark about my english. I'm probably inconsciously doing it for decades ! And I'm not the only one I think. Thx.
This is the export. Maybe you will find that the description 'names' in the previous posts are not the same. They are in french...
For now, I dont use the context loaded. I use only views pages, that get my panel's argument very well.
Help you'll find something here for passing it to my context, because presently if I use context it works : but all records are displayed.
artatum commentedStill searching to pass over my argument to a context view... ;-)
artatum commentedHi Merlin
My export is there...
Could you take a look at it and tell me for the argument ? I badly need this feature, please.
I would like to add a few things.
First is that your module is really great, of course. Second, is that you're really kind with me and everybody, as we can see in this module forum. BUT :
- I'm fighting night and days for 2 weeks now, in the simple purpose of passing arguments. Night AND days.
- I've read every post.
- I've read every book on Drupal 6 ad 7 in two languages.
- I've search for hours in this f. forum that returns about anything but what you're searching for.
- I've seen every video from Nodeone
- I've seen every video from Youtube.
And finally I succedded with 'Views Pages'.
THEN, when somone asked for these arguments it tooks me 2 minutes writing 3 sentences to describe it:
http://drupal.org/node/1228798#comment-4780830
Simply said. And look forward, the guy has understood and thanked me.
1) Dont you think these 3 sentences could be added somewhere in a kind of documentation ? I didnt find any for a so tricky module. If I can prevent somebody to live the nightmare I lived, I would be glad to help for writing a doc.
2) Would it be possible for you, rather than to investigate in hundred of lines of exports, or trying to understand my bad english, to simply write, similarily to mine,in 3-4 lines, a how-to about 'passing an argument to contexts' ?
Please Merlin...
merlinofchaos commentedOk, once again, I am going to try to explain this.
A 'context view', by which I mean when you click 'Add' in the displays area of a view and select 'Context' is not content. It does not show up in 'Add content'. Ever. It won't. It just won't.
It shows up in the 'Context' tab. If you have one that accepts arguments, then it'll be a relationship on that pane, and you'll need the context it accepts to already be in the page. So no, I can't "just write 3 or 4 lines" of documentation about how you do this, because you're wrong, I've told you you're wrong, and you don't believe me.
merlinofchaos commentedAlso, stop badmouthing me in the queues. I don't know why you think this will get you better help. I've tried to help you.
merlinofchaos commentedOne, one last thing:
How about you attach exports of both the view and the page manager page,You only attached the page. So I'm still guessing.
