djdevinHi,
We are running 1.7 (with ubercart) and I can't reproduce the issue.
Did you run update.php after updating to 1.7?
ebo1958 commentedYes I did. Any suggestions?
djdevinCan you debug any further?
A white screen means there is an error. Try turning on "display errors" in "errors and reporting"?
The error is very common, so it may or may not be from Course.
ebo1958 commentedI reverted back to 1.6. The white pages are gone but the error message is still there. Attached is the error log message I discovered afte updating. (I found something called "logging and errore" but not "errors and reporting".)

djdevinThe admin/course/ubercart page is very small, it is just a basic form.
It doesn't call element_children() so I don't know what the problem is :(
Did you update any other modules?
ebo1958 commentedI know, that's what doesn't make sense to me either. What I did do was update from media 1 -> 2. Do you think there could be a connection?
djdevinIt's possible or maybe one of its dependencies...media 1->2 was a big jump. Could you get a stack trace?
ebo1958 commentedI'm afraid I'm way out of my depth here. I don't even know what a stack trace is. I tried restoring earlier versions of my db — before the update to media 2 — but couldn't find a place where the error message was gone so it isn't associated with the white screen issue or so I think. I tried to update "course" again and the white screen came back. When looking into the log found another error message, see attached.
ebo1958 commentedWell wonders never cease! The white screen didn't actually have anything to do with the error message. Still don't know what happened. I uninstlled course v1.6 and all views etc. associated with it. On new install of v1.7 there were no white screens. Now I have to set up everything again and hope that I don't repeat whatever config errors I made. ;-)
The error DID come from common.inc. The patch #42 at https://www.drupal.org/node/1711256 did the trick there.
Thanks for all your help!
djdevinVery strange, although I think the warning would not have broken the site.
My guess is it was the same issue as #2613628: Using Drush to update to 1.7 ends in error. where there's an issue with the registry rebuild that should be happening on a module update.
It could also be due to leftover files, since files moved in Course 1.6->1.7. Completely deleting the directory and replacing it may have fixed.
Closing this for now but if the issue comes back feel free to reopen.
ebo1958 commentedAs a closing note, I ended up having more white screen problems that I think were caused by some experimenting I had done on integrating books. Went back to before the experiments. After that the update was fine. Will post that separately. :-)
ebo1958 commentedHi, another issue popped up connected with my update. When I try to delete content through the course outline, I get a white screen on not only the node I tried to delete but also the course itslef and the ubercart catalog page. I did rebuild the registry which seemed to make a difference but that didn't help the white screen issues. There are no errors listed in my log. (This is so frustrating.) Any ideas?
