Following the simple instruction provided I didn't got it to work.

Installation instructions
---------------------------
* you must be running your server within a cosign infrastructure.
More info at: http://www.weblogin.org/
* download the cosign module
* download the webserver_auth module, upon which cosign depends
* copy the modules into your drupal modules directory
* if webserver_auth still hasn't been updated from 4.7, then
follow the directions mentioned in webserver_auth-notes.txt
* enable the modules through the ?q=admin/build/modules page
* add the logout block to your page with the ?q=admin/build/block page

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After patched webserver_auth and enable it for Drupal 5.1, I got this error when trying to enable Cosign module :

error: Could not detect your username from $_SERVER['REMOTE_USER'], cosign was not enabled
in C:\wamp\www\golfinginasia\sites\all\modules\cosign\cosign.module on line 95.

What's the content of the logout block?

Can I anybody elaborate, I may have miss simple step here ?

TQ

This error is saying that it couldn't detect that cosign was enabled, since cosign would present your username to php as $_SERVER['REMOTE_USER']. The REMOTE_USER your error message is reporting that REMOTE_USER wasn't found, so the module is guessing that you don't have cosign enabled. At least the way that you're trying to access drupal.

Are you accessing drupal through http, when cosign is protecting https?

Could you post the results to the below php code?

echo "cosign service: $_SERVER[COSIGN_SERVICE]\n";

I had the same error!

error: Could not detect your username from $_SERVER['REMOTE_USER'], cosign was not enabled

All I had to do to enable cosign was add a 's' to https://host.edu/?q=admin/build/modules
