Support for importing all existing values in given Vocabulary to the new CCK Content Taxonomy Field

I have requested this about a year ago, but have seen nothing added to the software. Perhaps this functionality exists and I just don't seem to know where it is. I imagine a lot of users will be installing this GREAT module after they have already been using Vocabularies on their nodes, and once they make this active, the CCK field does not contain these values that already exists in the Vocabulary, and once they go to edit the node and save it, it will overwrite the value with a blank value unless they fill it in. I would like to just populate the CCK taxonomy field with the values currently in the vocabulary for that node. How does one do this? Shouldn't this be built into the module?
