User can't edit their own Content Profile‎

User have permission to edit their own Profile nodes.
This works fine for new User which registered after I migrated site to drupal 6.
Older Users can't edit their own Profile Nodes, even though they are author of node.
I think I did use Node-Profil in Drupal 5, but I am not sure.
Rebuilding permissions did not solve the problem.
Has anybody an idea how I could handle this?
I am looking for a more comfortable way as to delete older nodes and publish them new ;-)
