Unpublished nodes are not appearing in admin/content view

Plain Drupal 8.3.0 vanilla install.
I created a new role content author and assigned it the permissions to create, edit, delete the nodes of Article content type.
Then I created a few unpublished article nodes with content author and I was able to see them appear here: /admin/content
Then I installed this module and rebuilt permissions.
I was no longer able to see the unpublished nodes in admin/content for the content author.
