I think it would be very useful to allow for a php snippet for returning the role/s or user/s in the rules action. This would allow for choosing them dynamically based on node fields or fetched entities.

Hey there, your issue may now be duplicated by #1464948: Dynamically setting content access permissions using rules. Please take a look and see if the patch helps you out as well.
