Manage Display "Strip trailing zeroes after the decimal point" not stripping

When "Strip trailing zeroes after the decimal point." is selected in Manage Display widget the all fraction digits will display on the node. In views it works as expected.

If a bug, provide steps to reproduce it from a clean install.

1. Configure a currency in /admin/commerce/config/currencies/ with 6 fraction digits.
2. Add a price field to a content type and turn on "Strip trailing zeroes after the decimal point." in Manage Display widget.
3. Create a node and enter 10.000100 in the price field and save.
4. 10.0001 should be the value that appears on the node but it will still display 10.000100
   You can try this with any amount of fraction digits in a currency and it will always show the amount of fraction digits set in the currency's config.
