When I get to the payment page (admin/commerce/orders/23/payment) I have an error message: Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$roles in user_access() (line 811 of /home/mi2teams/public_html/drupal/modules/user/user.module).

This makes me unable to see the "cash" link to mark the check as cashed.

I can, however, add a payment method and that works like it should.

Any ideas?

Looks to me like a bug in whatever payment module you're using. That isn't a core Drupal Commerce module.
