Hi,
In case all product entities have same image, it is better to use Product Display image field to speed up the process. The problem comes when you need to display preview image in Cart, Checkout and etc. views. By default views does not provide to establish relationships with Product Display node. So I can only show image in cart which was added to product entity itself.
Such functionality would be very appreciated.

P.S. May be I have missed the point but I could not figure out how to attain same result.

rszrama commentedI do believe there's a relationship you can use; it's the reverse product reference relationship that should allow you to join to nodes referencing your products. First you need to add a product relationship to your line items and then you can add a relationship called "Commerce Product: Node referencing products from field_product".
