Hi

i'm developing a greeting card website.
need to do a couple of things

need to add a text entry field to a prodcut, so the customer can add a greetings message to the card

also want to be able to change the font of the message.
have created a drop down list, but dont know how to access it

Sorry, we don't do full support here in the issue queue. Check out related discussion on DrupalCommerce.org, particularly adding fields to your line item type and exposing them to the Add to Cart form. Those features will cover your requirements.
