The commerce module really needs some reports page with analytics and reports for the whole activity. Maybe some graphs, integration with Google Analytics, global shop performance, and more specific numbers. I don't know if it should belong to contrib or core. But if the commerce module really is about core functionnality, it should have all the necessary tools to give the ability to build this reports page. Knowing that reports is at the heart of any serious e-commerce solution, either solution should make it good. What do you think ?

As stated here #725516: Store: Dashboard, the commerce also needs a Dashboard, which is not the same as an "Analytics and reports" page (or section ?). Dashboard is just about day-to-day store management. Report is really about getting the state of the shop, and should be useful for marketing people for instance.

I definitely think we need some good reporting modules, but I'm not sure what we should really be concerned about in core. I think what's going to need to happen is people are going to need these and then build them / release them for others to use and build on. For now, I'd like to explore how we can use Views to build custom reports. Also, we can polish up the integration with Google Analytics through this project: http://drupal.org/project/commerce_google_analytics
