It could provide great value to event organizers include some standard checklists for event organizers, to help them plan and execute their event successfully.

This could certainly help feed the Admin dashboard (issue forthcoming) and possibly onboarding as well #1006942: Onboarding: Signup status block for attendees.

Any task that isn't part of the COD itself (e.g. 6-12 months in advance: Book a venue) could exist as list in a node, or something more sophisticated, if there's a need for that.

I just did a show and tell at the IA Summit and several people recommended replacing the default "Help" with "Guide"... some recommended a wizard, but as not every step needs to be completed in order, perhaps a numbered checklist with the major tasks.

Now that I think further, a dynamic dashboard could be good.

What would be even better if organizer could mark a major task as done, or if the system could detect whether content exists eg. timeslots, and then have a contextual links to view and create more e.g.

"There are 3 timeslots. Create another timeslot."
"There are no sessions."
"There are 5 sponsors. Create another sponsor"

I should add that this checklist/dashboard would be available to admins from the Admin toolbar.
