I might be missing something here, but there doesn't appear to be a way to link the certifications via Civi groups to Drupal roles, or is that link acheived through matching the Certification Name field to a Drupal role?

If it's not, could we add another field to the 4 currently used to specify the Drupal role the certification is connected to, eg right now these are the categories, with example content for each:

Certification name
Camera
CiviEvent type
Camera Workshop
Participant status
passed
CiviGroup
Camera Workshop

to which I propose adding a selection dropdown menu to choose from existing Drupal roles:

Certifications only maps to CiviCRM Groups. CiviCRM Groups are then synchronized to Drupal Roles with the CiviCRM Group Role Synchronization module that is part of CiviCRM. We already an issue open to tie Reservations directly to Certifications (skipping even the CiviCRM Group) in #2277853: Tie Certification Permissions to CiviCRM Certification vs. Role
