I have a Drupal 6 site with only the Admin Menu, Libraries API, CAS and CAS Server installed and enabled along with the core modules that are enabled by default. I've installed phpCAS 1.2.1 on /html/sites/all/libraries and CAS settings recognizes CAS.php and my version.
I've created a CAS user and linked it to an existing Drupal user. However, when I try to login with CAS, I am brought to the following page: (an https connection is established) I am assuming something went wrong with my configuration, but I cannot be sure what happened.

metzlerd commentedYou should never have the cas server and cas module enabled at the same time. The cas_server module is used to make drupal respond to cas authentication requests. The cas module is used to make drupal authenticate against a different cas server.
If you want to use your drupal site as a cas server, you must have https enabled and properly configured for your site. Make sure that you can visit https://yoursite.example.com before trying to enable the cas module.

jpcurley25 commentedLearn something new every day! Maybe my vision is flawed. I disabled CAS on example.com so that it is running as a server. Let me be sure that I am setting this up properly.
I have example.com and site1.example.com already setup. I want users to be able to login to example.com which will bring them to a home page on example.com that gives access to *.example.com resources (many sites).
I have CAS (server module) installed on example.com and then CAS (client module) installed on site1.example.com and all other subdomains that will authenticate with example.com correct? I am sorry for the newbie questions...
Thanks for your help Dave! Your other posts and comments have also cleared up many questions of mine...

jpcurley25 commentedAlmost forgot, do I need SSL certificates for each *.example.com?
metzlerd commentedYes you understand correctly. No you only need certificates for example.com, It is just the authenticating site that needs ssl. The CAS client requires it. That is the cas cleint will only communicate with the cas server over ssl.
