Legacy Captions containing period break caption rendering

When a caption contains a period, it causes our regex scripts to break. Example: [caption]<img src="/path/to/img.jpg" alt="image" />THis is a caption.[/caption]

A patch, also containing other coder.module cleanup, will be reviewed by the maintainer before a release is made.
