I use the varnish module http://drupal.org/project/varnish and a integration to reuse varnish features would be a good way?

Needs to be looked into. The purging features of the module could be useful. Although it must be kept in mind that Cache Control should (at least in theory) be independent of the caching solution, so we wouldn't like to introduce a rigid dependency to Varnish.

Maybe as an additional or sub-module if used with varnish? If isn't used with varnish the features (use varnish cache purge,...) not needed...

Setting this back to "active" as there is no patch available to work on.

Having docs on how it works with Varnish (or other caching solutions) would be good.
