Check out the setting for bussiness theme.
For that go to Appearence -> Business settings.
Check the front page slide show setting and change the slide description.

I had analysed this issue and I found that this issue is due to the configuration in filtering. You may have 'select' Display any HTML as plain text checkbox for plain text.
Check out the configuration for Text formats
For that go to Administration » Configuration » Content authoring » Text formats
