I'm trying to track down a strange problem. I'm not positive it's a bug but marking it as such for now. I have a couple of the bio fields on the reg screen so it creates the node automatically. The content type is set to read/write for comments. But comments seem to be disabled until the user actually goes to their profile and fills out more info. I need to do more investigating but I wanted to get this issue out there in case someone had an idea of what's going on already.

Are you using the dev release? There was a problem reported by jscheel in #199705 that sounds similar to this that was fixed post-1.1.

I'm planning to roll a 1.2 release once http://drupal.org/node/174507 is fixed. If you have time to review that patch, that would be awesome. :)

My apologies. It turns out that my .module file was out of date because I had patched it for panels. I confirmed this is fixed now.
