Messages class not showing up on homepage breaking ecommerce/shopping carts

Using drupal commerce no add to cart confirmation messages work on home page but they work on subsequent pages. Is .messages missing?

edit: Nevermind, this is not the issue, some sort of javascript conflict. Investigating...
