Entity API support defaultRevisionKey which tells entity API if this is the default revision or not. Adding support for this would allow publishing on non default revisions and provide better support for deploy.

The Bean module already allows for publishing of non-default revision outside of the entity API but it's probably better to stick to that standard.

FYI, that functionality didn't exist when revision support was added to bean.

So this is already wired up and has been since revisions were introduced. There was one bug where a method went missing which is related to setting the non current revision to the default: #1941168: "set active" gives fatal error "Call to undefined method Bean::setDefault()" (look at one of the later comments) but this is being fixed today.
