On my installation of Drupal 6.16, I've noticed that I cannot use the "Auto Assign Role" module and a wysiwyg editor like "CKEditor" (v3.2.1.5372).

Whenever the two modules are active, the pages that use the CKEditor module (pages that have text forms, which can be used like in MS Word with the CKEditor), refuse to load completely. The pages load till 99 %, so basically everything works, till the last moment, when something interrupts the complete loading of the page. This means that the page entirely remains white.
When just ONE of the two modules is active, everything is fine.

Which pages use the CKEditor? Examples are "add a story", "add a page", "add a profile",... so all pages where you need to fill out a textform in order to add content.

This is a big problem, because having a website that is not capable of showing all (basic!) pages, is a pretty crappy website.

Using another wysiwyg such as whizzywig doesn't cause any problems. I don't know which module causes the problem, as before I had CKEditor installed and many many other modules and never had problems, till I added the Auto Assign Role module.

What could be the problem?

This is an error in your editor and not in this module. This module doesn't use any custom javascript outside of FAPI functionality.
