I want to change the heading from "annotations" to something like "notes". How do I do this.

investigate the locale.module in core, or the string overrides module in the downloads area.

If this module was built using t() for text strings, you should be able to alter using one of those two methods.

If not, you'll have to scan the code in the .module file for "annotations" and change them there.

You did not specify the language so I guess you want to keep it English.

I don't know the http://drupal.org/project/stringoverrides module but it sounds like your solution.
