this is a pretty neat module. Very handy, but it interfers with the general interface and seemles surfer experience. Here are my ideas about how to make this module even better.
1) Among with all other links there should be a JS-enabled link "annotate". The moment that end-user mouse-overs this link a neat Annotate field rolls out. If mouse-outs this section goes back to where it came from, but if the user starts typing inside it, then this section stays displayed even when user browses through texts or comments.
2) There should be no "Update" button. The annotations should get updated automatically or when the user leaves this page
3)Admins should have a choice on how Annotations fileds are displayed by default (expanded; expanded-minimizable; expand on mouseover; expand on mouseover and expanded IF this user already has previous annotations here).
4) Users should be able to change annotations display options in their personal Control Panel ... e.g. the closest that Drupal seems to have to that is "My Profile" section.
5) It would also be nice for users to have "My Annotations" section -- displayed as a table: Date, Content-type, Content-title, plus a little DHTML or JS expandable field which opens the field with those particular annotations.
once again, congratulations on an excellent module. I'll be eagerly waiting for new updates.

clemens.tolboomAnnotation is now collapsed when no annotation is available.
The submit button is almost a necessity ... doing it the ajax way would be a performance hit.
The button can be hidden, and themed accordingly. So a patch for this in javascript is welcome!
So I vote this one fixed in the next dev release.

clemens.tolboomBut then again ... the idea in this issue are worth to keep :-)

clemens.tolboom#1 is more or less solved by collapsable fieldset. If you could you could create a move hoover for the collapsable fieldset.
#2 my opinion is that a form must have a submit button. It sound nice but 'when the user leaves the page' and/or 'save as you type' (to prevent browser crashes) requires a lot of callbacks. I know of callbacks but not for a text area. If you have suggestions how to do this please help.
#3 some config is now possible
#4 there is already a feature request for this one.
#5 This should definitely be in. Could you file an feature request please?
Could you please review this request with the latest dev version and the outstanding issues. If a feature is not covered please make a new separate feature request for each item.
Regards and thanks, Clemens

clemens.tolboomHope my invitation to the group helps to close this issue ;-)

clemens.tolboomI close this to have a clean sheet for the 1.0-beta-2 bugs. Then release a final 1.0. And then make the 2.0 'yellow marker' release.
