Attached is my code converting feed-items into blogs.

You can see it running at http://blogs.fienipa.com/

Currently implemented as a module and tested for 4.6. I am thinking for 4.7 it should be integrated into the aggregator2 source.

ideas anyone ?

This is not a safe way to go (changing node type). There may be other modules which may work on one node type but not on another, so after change some data may be lost (if some module doesn't work for blog items) or not existing (if some module works for blog items, but not for agg2 nodes).
In next big update agg2 will work on different types of nodes, so this won't be needed :).
