I would be very glad to see Insert supporting the newly released Uberimage CCK field type. http://drupal.org/project/aef_image

This would be the perfect combination since Uberimage supports cropping for every ImageCache preset.

Insert module supports modules that have been moved into Drupal core (ImageField, FileField, and ImageCache). Uberimage should be able to use Insert's APIs to add support for Insert.

Well, that's a good idea, but not high in the priority list.
FYI we are using Multimedia Elements (http://drupal.org/project/issues/aef_multimedia_element) to insert images into the body of a text. Longer to insert an image, but it's not limited to one image.
