Problem/Motivation

After I ran into an (as it turns out, unrelated) problem doing rapid site development with AT, I stupidly installed the current git-dev version and started working with it. Now I've got the site up and am beginning to worry that I will have to revert to the recommended version and/or this dev version will get merged or diverge, and I'll lose my configuration/customization (only custom css) in the process. At this point, before the site gets too built up, what is the least painful thing I can do? Maybe this is simpler than I'm imagining? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hello? Sorry to waste your time with this, I know I was an idiot, but any tips on whether I can safely downgrade to the recommended release, and safest way to do so, would really be appreciated.

You should be fine - the latest release will be stable sometime in the very near future and won't overwrite anything. The latest release was mainly for D10 compatibility and I'll update that into a proper release soon.
