I tried on default theme settings and uploaded favicn but it does not work....does adaptive theme have special settings soemwhere?

I was able to add favicon via the metatag module. However swapping out the default favicon.ico file should work also. It may be a cache issue.

Where did you upload the favicon?

To tell AdaptiveTheme where the favicon is located go to Administration > Appearance > Settings > yoursubtheme (where yoursubtheme is the name of your custom AT subtheme).

Click on Basic Settings > Favicon

Do one of the following:

Click the checkbox for "Use the favicon supplied by the theme" and upload the favicon to themes/yoursubtheme

OR

Uncheck the checkbox and provide the path to your custom icon wherever you uploaded it.

You can also select and upload your favicon on the settings page.

When finished, click "Save basic settings." Clear Drupal's cache. Then clear your browser's cache.

I find the browser does not always display the favicon immediately, so give it some time and check back later to see if it's working.

Not sure if this is the same problem, but I think it is. I can't upload a favicon, I can't upload the logo, and I can't edit the page element display (user pictures in posts etc) because the Save Basic Settings button doesn't save any of those changes. I'm using an AT Theme Generator SubTheme, with AT Core 8.x-3.1.

What platform are you hosting your site on? Where I'm hosting my site I can't just save the changes because of git, so I had to create a symlink to the files directory in order for Adaptive Theme to save changes without having to commit them. That might be a reason your changes aren't saving. Or is there something in the log that might give a clue?
