When I say "any" I typically mean things like:
admin/content/ad/configure
admin/content/ad/groups
node/add/ad/image
"My ads" works, but none of the submenu items (like "my active ads")
Same with admin/content/ad, but not "Settings" or "Groups"
I did initially have the module in one of the sites folder, I confess - when it didn't work, moved it to sites/all/modules (after reading the readme) and still have the same problem.
There's no uninstall support yet, so it might be due to legacy data in the tables - manually dropping the tables has dire effects.

uberellis-dupe commentedThe source of the blank page is: "GIF89að1ÿÿÿ!ù,D;"

jeremy commentedCheck your web server error logs to see why you're getting a blank page. Usually this means you don't have enough memory allocated to your web server.
uberellis-dupe commentedAccessing the mentioned admin and content pages doesn't log an error. I have allocated more memory irrespective and still have the same issue.
The source of the blank page resembles the header of a gif image.
jeremy commentedOffhand, I can't think of any reasons that these pages would display a gif. Did you make any changes to the default menus, or url aliasing that might be affecting this? Review the access log when access one of these blank pages, perhaps it offers a hint as to some sort of redirection that's happening?
Can you try the ad module with a clean install of Drupal -- ie, a new database, unpatched Drupal core, etc.
uberellis-dupe commentedI know I'm going to hate myself when we resolve this one. I've now installed ad module(s) on both my local webserver and the staging server, and several variations of drupal. The staging server has 200M allowed for a script in php.ini (is that enough?) - my local webserver has 32M.
Staging Server:
GD library bundled (2.0.28 compatible)
MySQL database 4.1.20
PHP 4.3.9
Unicode library PHP Mbstring Extension
Web server Apache/2.0.52 (CentOS)
Local Server:
GD library bundled (2.0.28 compatible)
MySQL database 4.0.26
PHP 5.1.6
Unicode library PHP Mbstring Extension
Web server Apache/1.3.33 (Darwin) PHP/5.1.6
Whatever I'm doing wrong, I'm doing wrong on both. On my local webserver, I've tried:
1. Installation on new database with similar codebase (ad module in sites/all/modules) - Same results
2. Installation on new database with new codebase (ad module in sites/all/modules) - Same results
3. Installation on new database with new codebase (ad module in modules/) - Same results
None of the above had clean urls running yet.

jeremy commentedVery peculiar. Are you installing the module the normal way -- as in, simply copying it into the respective modules/ subdirectory then enabling it from the Drupal administrative interface? Are you using Drupal 5.1?
I have memory_limit set to 128M on my staging server. I've not experimented with just how low this setting can be adjusted.
What do you see in your Apache access_log when you visit a page that results in the gif image?
uberellis-dupe commentedThe problem is not in the module - After much troubleshooting and involving other people, it turns out my local firewall was somehow blocking the admin functions of the module. Strange thing is.. other modules work fine. *shrug* (for any browser and from any server)
Thanks for your help and a great module :)
jeremy commentedAh, you're probably using Norton or a similar firewall that does ad blocking at the application layer. It's probably configured to block anything that has "ad" in the path.
