I'm trying to use a .jpg Image 140px x 96px for an advert. To basically get the image up on my site in left hand side block.

When I ty to make the advert active I get error:

Image validation failed, unable to mark ad as active. Setting ad as pending. If you do not see any more errors, you should now be able to set your ad as active.

How can I fix this?

Kind regards

Sorry if I seam a bit think. I searched before posting for 'validation failed' etc. and got nothing that explains the situation to me.

Please, is there are work around?

Your help is much appreciated.

This is a bug in the ad_image module that I have not been able to track down, as the problem is very intermittent for me. On my development server, if I get the error you report I try and save the image again and then it works.

Sorry, the word "Duplicate" above was supposed to be a link to the issue in which this is being debugged.

I've got the exact same issue: "Image validation failed, unable to mark ad as active. Setting ad as pending. If you do not see any more errors, you should now be able to set your ad as active." The image has uploaded fine. I've read through the comments on the "duplicate"-linked thread and I'm not sure how it's related. I've deleted the ad and tried to re-input it. I've re-saved the image and re-uploaded, with no success. I'm happy to provide more information if it would be helpful.

I had the same problem until I set the permissions. User management / Access contol fixed it.

I have the same problem.
For the regular user is impossible to understand why those 2 issues are related, and sending them to the other issue just confuses them.
Both issues have the same problem, for unknown reasons the image width, height or fid are set to 0.

Change permissions to what? I'm the administrator of the site, I have all the permissions enabled by default.

Thought I'd chime in as having the same problem. Destination directory and user permissions are all set properly, but "image validation" fails each and every time I try to set an ad as "active".

This is one of those issues that make you tear your hair out. Especially if someone posts that they fixed the problem but then don't tell you exactly how.

After i got this message, i was also lost and came here looking for the answer. I followed the Advert Status in order and this seemed to fix it. I marked the advert approved, and then saved it. Then edited it again, marked it as active, then saved it, and that was it. I believe that you can't mark an advert as active unless it's in an approved state, just a hunch. Take care everyone, keep Drupal alive.

This bug occurs if your ad has no ad group.
Having no ad group means too, that you can't set the ad group AND mark the ad as active as you can see in #11.

Workaround:
Choose an ad group -> leave ad pending -> submit -> edit ad -> mark ad as active

I am getting the same error " Image validation failed, unable to mark ad as active. Setting ad as pending. " on a fresh install. The funny part is that I am using remote hosted images. I can see the picture in my ad. I can mark it and have it changed to approved, but when i change it to active i get the above error again. I am using the latest version.
