A highly recommended feature people usually are asking for is a 'user status' type of module, like facebook or twitter has.

Here is a quick little module that adds this basic functionality as a block and uses activity hooks to record it's history as well as demonstrate what it would look like for another module to do so.

I'm debating just bundling it with Activity as a sub module for the previous reasons, but don't know if it's a good idea or not. You wanna take a quick look and give me your impressions jaydub?

Basic instructions for setting up the activity action to record a user status message.

Go to: /admin/settings/actions and choose the 'Record an activity...':
Only local images are allowed.

Set the confuration for the action to be like so:
Only local images are allowed.

Go to: /admin/build/trigger/activity_user_status and set the action you just configured to run on our new trigger:
Only local images are allowed.

Now enable the block we created (/admin/build/blocks) and give it a shot from your /user page!

How does this compare with facebook style statuses?

sirkitree’s picture

Facebook style statuses has a lot more features and out of the box functionality. (provides more blocks and has more integration with other modules)

This I created as a bare-bones system and as an example of how to integrate with the new version of activity. I'd love to hear your impressions if you try it out.

I don't see a Record an activity... action. I have installed the module of course, what's wrong?

Are you using the 6.x-2.x dev version of Activity?

I also don't have "Record an activity..." in my list of actions, even though I have the 6.x-2.x version of Activity installed.

Can you guys (@tracerhand and @Miraploy) give me a little more detail on the installation you are trying to do this upon? Is it a clean install or something with a lot of other modules?

Flying Drupalist’s picture

Sorry, I wasn't using 2.x

I'll get back to you when I have a chance to try this again.

@Miraploy: Ok, thanks for responding. Also, if you do have this problem, please update this issue: #415554: "Record an activity..." does not appear in list of advanced actions

I don't think we're going to put this in. we've made a lot of changes locally and if anyone really wants it please let me know.

Current code here doesn't work with all the changes we've made to activity so I'm closing this.

Hey, I'm a little late at replying, but for me this module was saved by this Status Sub-Module... I urge you to implement it properly to have a complete and fully functional User Wall and Status Activity System like Facebook. This is the only thing I request for activity.module, and I cannot express how much this implementation would be appreciated.

Thank you for an amazing module.

I set up the activity action to record a user status message via the Activity publisher Template yet do not see it showing up in the activity stream. I checked everything per your post #1 and all seems to be in order yet it is still not showing up.
