7-1.1 ACL
UPDATE: turns out a stray sites/all/module/tests directory was throwing the error - please see #7 and #8 below
Started running into a weird non-fatal drush error after core 7.50 update and running new Module Missing Message Fixer (though I don't believe the latter is related):
Drush: Error while trying to find the common path for enabled extensions of project acl. acl, acl_node_test. [error]
.. recreate: drush pm-updatestatus
Found a useful hint: https://www.drupal.org/node/1043038#comment-4015430
.. comment out: modules/acl/acl.info > ' ;project = "acl"
.. comment out: modules/acl/tests/acl_node_test.info > ;project = ";acl_node_test"
The bug didn't appear to impact functionality or throw any errors in production (cento7, maria, etc) - but it throws one to drush. Reference link suggests just deleting it, but commenting works just as well.
Hope the rest of your day is everything your day can be.. :)-

salvisI'm sorry, I don't follow.
Are you suggesting to remove the "project =" lines from the .info file?
I never put them there, they are inserted by the packaging script on d.o, into each and every .info file here...

jdexter commentedPleasure to make your acquaintance Salvis, really appreciate the api with thx. Started with 7.50 update as near as I can figure, also I used the Module Missing Message Fixer to clear out some media module detritus on update, but I couldn't find any interlink that would impact acl on this build.
So, I'm not entirely sure why the error is being thrown by drush either. Commented or not, it doesn't appear to impact the operation of the site or throw an error in watchdog in production.. It just stops throwing drush check error when it's commented out. Though, it doesn't seem to impact drush checking it, I've not had an opportunity to try to update the module with the commented lines in place.
Here's what my .info files look like now (acl 7.1.1):
acl.info
acl_node_test.info
.. Your guess is very probably better than mine, but thought I'd kick it in here as there are references to the multi .info file project lines problem with other modules, but I couldn't find any reference to acl. Wonder if it now needs to reference the test module as acl_node_test in the second .info file iteration?

salvisI think you have to take this to the Drush queue: https://github.com/drush-ops/drush/issues
BTW, did you see the top link on

jdexter commentedYep, that was one of my search loops and I removed and reinstalled ACL (module GUI) and then updated drush, no positive affect. Wasn't experiencing an outright drush halt on ACL - just the error message on ACL - then it checked and updated everything else and only started to present after Drup 7.5 update.
Don't believe this is a unique ACL pwob and the hint link my original post seems to be related to duplicate .info paths modules you are seeing in the search return. That's all I know, and while commenting works - I assume that's going to be a drush problem if I have to update 7.1 ACL. On the the other hand, going to bet it works fine using admin GUI update method as it throws no errors and doesn't impact production regardless it's commented or not..
It's a weirdness - and probably a corner case, but meh.. it's here in case someone's world is on fire.. :)-

salvisAre you really sure that no one made a backup copy or something of ACL under one of the modules directories? And that drush really found and replaced the previous version?
jdexter commented.. A-HAH - fixed! Thank you very kindly Salvis..
So yes - a second acl/tests sub-directory (not acl, just a second '/tests' sub-directory) did show up in sites/all/modules/ on grep.. Removed the extra directory, drush clear-cache all, removed commented lines above and drush pm-updatestatus throws no errors.
Updating original post to point to this.. No idea how a copy of acl/tests appeared as sites/all/modules/tests - but super glad it's that and not something else..
