it seems currently roles can either have access to all contacts or to none. that means that there is no way for a user to see information related to his own contact or contacts assigned to him in some way (including activities) without having access to all the others?

am i missing something? or are there already issues for this in crm_core?

If you've enabled CRM Core User Sync, there's a permission to allow users to edit their own contact information.

If you need more granular control, it seems like Node Access Relation comes closest to providing this functionality, but it doesn't work for entities other than nodes and users.
