Hi,
I've installed the node keywords module and have submitted my site to Google. When I search at Google (or Yahoo for that matter) for "New Kingston", I don't see my site anywhere, but when I search for "newkingston" then it pops up near the top. Is there a way to have search engines bring up my site when people search for "New Kingston" rather that "newkingston"?
My site: www.newkingston.org
Thanks

When I am googling new
When I am googling new "kingston" then I get 45,800,000 result, in order like this:
1. www.topix.net/city/new-kingston-ny
2. www.newkingstonja.com
3. etc ......
this mean that your site maybe listed on record 45,800,000. mean, you must upgrade you RANK so your site will be listed on top 10 list of Google. The easiest and exactly way is pay google for their advertise function.
you'll have to continue to
you'll have to continue to plug away with content and getting your page ranked to move up with a popular keyword. it doesnt happen over night and wont be easy work but it will be work.
You are at the top because
You are at the top because your domain name is "newkingston" and the word in this writing are infrequent on another sites.
But by the search phrase "New Kingston" your young site got a lot of strong competitors.
Moving your site up in Google list is a BIG BIG issue called Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Find and read some quick tutorial about it.
Just in two words: you should have good, frequently updated text content with the desired keywords in titles, text and links, and you shold have links to your site from other sites. And your site should not be too yong - young sites are plased into "sandbox" for several months.
Thanks for all the advice.
Thanks for all the advice. Is there any reason why when I search for "new kingston" on msn my site is the #2 result, but it still is lost far down the rankings (presumably) on google and yahoo? Will they catch up as time goes by?

MSN, Google and Yahoo all
MSN, Google and Yahoo all have different ranking algorithms. How do they calculate ranking - is theirs big secret. More than that, they permanently modify algorithms.
But there are some general principles that I mentioned above.
Post content, gather external links and yor site will surely bubble up in all search engines.
