I notice that MediaFront has a plugin called "MediaFront Embedded Media Field". Is this only supported through the Dash Media Player? Or can it work with the OSM player as well?

I'm assuming so because your description of Open Standard Media Player says that it "is an industry changing, open source (GPL) media player written in jQuery to dynamically deliver any type of web media, including HTML5, YouTube, Vimeo, and Flash."

I'm asking because I have the "MediaFront Embedded Media Field" enabled but I cannot get embedded video field for my custom video content type to show up on the Create Content form when the field type is 'Media Player'. It does show up in the form when I use the 'Embedded Video' type instead but that just displays the embedded video player instead of Mediafront's OSM player.

Am I doing something wrong?

You need to add a field Media Player to your content type and use that display instead. Please read the documentation.

I do have Media Player as the Type in the embedded video field of my content type. I have also made sure that "Media Player is also displayed under Form element to edit the data" as described in the documentation.

It still doesn't work, meaning the field doesn't show up in the Create Content form. Like I said, it only shows up in that form if I use the 'Embedded Video' Type instead of the 'Media Player' Type for the field.

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem. What I needed was to download the EMbedded field module and the media: modules for the supported 3rd party, e.g., vimeo or youtube. When I define the field in the node it is an embed video type, not media field. When I create the content, I paste in the embed html. I have a view setup to display the nodes and use the media front view.

In essence, in my environment I do not have a field with a type of MediaFront.

I had the same problem, but in my case, I simply changed the weight/order of the fields under the content type's "manage fields" page, placing the Media Player field ABOVE the emfield and it magically started working.
