Im following the instructions to install Gallery2 as a Drupal module at: http://drupal.galleryembedded.com/index.php/Installation
I dont know what it really means in step 4 so I just copied the entire folder, including the folder itself to the modules folder in the drupal installation. So I have a modules folder inside another modules folder.
So when I get to step 5 I dont see the graphics module in administer > modules.
What am I missing or doing wrong? Please help.
Thanks in advance.

you have to install and have
you have to install and have a working G2 previous to installing the Gallery2.module.
The Gallery2 program shouldnt be installed in your modules folder.
install Gallery 2 in your drupal root folder., then only upload to the modules folder the gallery 2 drupal module.
I already installed it and have it
I have a working installation of gallery2. Now, I made a Search for "*.module" files but couldn't find gallery2.module.
The installation instructions say: "4. Copy the entire gallery module directory to your drupal modules/ directory."
I guess I'm missing something or misunderstanding something. Where should the gallery2.module file be?
in the downloads page or
in the downloads page or drupal.org. -> http://drupal.org/project/gallery
I've followed the installation instructions in the gallery2.module many times with no problems & without use of the website instructions you were using. I do not know how much they differ.
however if you dont have a the Gallery2.module? what folder did you put inside your drupal modules folder?
There are 2 items here: 1)
There are 2 items here:
1) Gallery2 application from http://gallery.menalto.com. This can be installed pretty much anywhere, but the most logical place is either the root of your webserver or in a subdirectory of drupal. Don't call its directory "gallery" -- call it "gallery2" or "photos" or anything but "gallery".
2) Gallery Module from http://drupal.org/project/gallery . This must be installed in the drupal modules directory (put the whole gallery dir in there).
If you do both of these and you still do not see the gallery module listed in the modules page of drupal, then I would ask if you have used Drupal v5.0 (pre-release)? If so you need to use the 5.x version of gallery module.
There is no 5.0 Gallery2
There is no 5.0 Gallery2 module. at least marked. the cvs version may work on 5.0 but its dated same as the 4.7.0 release. just for reference.
Actually, there is a 5.x
Actually, there is a 5.x version -- see http://drupal.org/node/87022 (I'm interested in feedback).
Ooooh! I seeee!
Thanks guys. I'm very impressed with the speed you guys reply and your willingness to help. It must seem pretty obvious, but for me first timer it wasn't. I downloaded and installed Gallery2. I was very pleased at the easy installation process since most of the time I run into technical nightmares.
I thought that the gallery.module file was included with the gallery2 files. I didn't know that I had to download another set of files. And I think it kinda doesn't specify that on the installation page at http://drupal.galleryembedded.com/index.php/Installation
I already downloaded the files and successfully installed it with drupal.
Thanks so much guys. I just installed drupal for the first time yesterday and I'm going to start working on some Drupal themes and when they're read I would like to make some available for download to give back to this helpful community.
youre right that page is
youre right that page is written in a way that assumes you already have the gallery2.module for drupal or at least know where it is.
That page hasnt been updated in quite awhile and probably should be. Gallery 2.2 is slated for release soon. (soon meaning when its ready). maybe that page will be updated with it as well. For those who find that before before first finding the module in the downloads area.
congrats on solving your situation.
I will update the install
I will update the install instructions and wiki (again) -- I can see where the confusion is coming from. Thanks.
Can we just have a drupal how-to?
Can we just have a drupal how-to?
I mean, until I discovered the embeddedgallery site I was just totally lost on this. Nothing made sense.
But why not have how-to's for drupal on the drupal site itself? or have I just missed them?
BTW, I really like G2 integration. Its the **BEST** and **ONLY** image system for drupal anyone could ever want.
