There is a common recipe in Drupal to have a "Operations" list on tables/table forms that are a list of links to pages where you can perform operations on the item. IE the Content type page's edit/manage fields/delete. This is usually just done with a hard coded array of links and theme_links in many contrib modules and a weird colspan multiple tds in many core administration pages. I've long thought it would be handy to have an element that could be easily interacted with and themed by developers for this and am curious if maybe elements is a place to explore this.

I'd actually forgotten about this issue. I still think its an awesome idea though.

I think this request has been deprecated by encouraging people to use VBO instead. It's landed in D8 core anyway, so there's no point in working on something that will never be used in a future version of Drupal.
