Hi,

I worked with zen-6.x-1.0 following the great documentation and had no problems. Today when trying to mount a theme with zen-6.x-1.1 and Zen folder appears normal, but when I copy the folder starterkit and made the changes in starterkit as the documentation, it does not appear on the page admin/build/themes. I cleaned the caches, rebuild the theme, checked the file permissions and nothing.
Remember that version zen-6.x-1.0 works perfectly and I tried with versions zen-6.x-2.0-beta1 and zen-6.x-2.x-dev without success.
My SO: Ubuntu 9.1.

Thanks and sorry my poor english

Title:Theme does not appear (zen-6.x-1.1 or superior)» Subscribed - having same issue with zen sub themes

zen-6.x-1.1.tar.gz unpacked and moved to /sites/all/themes/

6.x-1.1 - Zen theme displays, but Starterkit and any zen sub-themes do NOT display in the Themes list.

6.x-1.0 - Zen, Zen Classic, and Zen Themer's Starter kit ALL display in Themes list.

Drupal 6.15
MySQL database 5.0.51a
PHP 5.2.6

Make sure you have removed the .txt extension from the themename.info.txt file. It's a silly mistake, but I do it all the time!

Title:Subscribed - having same issue with zen sub themes» Sub-themes do not appear (zen-6.x-1.1 or later)

When the Starter Kit's .info file was named "STARTERKIT.info", drupal.org's download manager would automatically add some lines to the end of that file that file that made it get really confused when Zen was updated. See #254821: Sub-theme's .info file triggers incorrect "out of date" flag in update module

In order to fix that bug, I had to rename the file to STARTERKIT.info.txt. When you create your new sub-theme by making a copy of the STARTERKIT folder, make sure you rename the STARTERKIT.info.txt to mytheme.info. (As Tim says above.)

Also, Zen Classic is no longer a part of the Zen 6.x-1.x downloads. See #426750: Remove Zen Classic sub theme for the reasons. If you still need that sub-theme, you can use the "zen_classic" folder from the old Zen 6.x-1.0 download.

I was having this problem as well. The sub themes did not show up. But after downloading as you suggested (the old theme) it worked.

Why doesnt the new downloads work the same way??? is there a issue with the new ones?

For those on Mac (may work for those on Windows too), it is better to open the STARTERKIT.info.txt using your favorite text editor and save it as yourtheme.info rather than renaming it.

Hope it helps.

Thanks

Thank you so much! This even applies to version 7.. for the life of me, I could not figure out why my startkit was not being recognized by drupal. So I followed your advice (open up .info.txt file and "save as .info") and it worked like a charm!

Thanks again!

Completely bewildered by this myself. I'm almost certain it's a problem with Mac OSX 10.6 and/or TextEdit.
(I had no problems with this until I upgraded to latest OS.)

I open STARTERKIT.info.txt using TextEdit and save as mytheme.info in the mytheme folder. All other stuff done exactly the same as usual. One thing I notice is that the mini-icon for the file mytheme.info is a page with little lines in it, whereas in old versions it's just a blank page.

New subtheme does not show up in Theme list.

Anyone have ideas on this?

Do I really have to go back to old Zen Classic and ignore updates?

I am on a Mac in 2012 and getting the same issue and pulling my hair out! The sub theme simply does not show up! I have been at this game a very long time. Any body got a clue?

Found it!!! Do not change the name with Text Edit! Try something like TextWrangler. It is that simple!
