I'm having the situation described here:

Basically, using Mimemail with the Simplenews module causes the emails to not be sent. Disabling Mimemail or setting Simplenews to plain text allows emails to be sent, but without html formatting :(

Any thoughts on solving this issue?

Ok, MimeMail appears to be working today.

I disabled MimeMail and got SimpleNews working by itself in plain-text mode.

Then I re-enabled all the MimeMail modules, including the CSS compressor. I also enabled both SimpleNews modules and whatever dependencies they had. (Tigger and Taxonomy Actions, I think).

It is not documented, but apparently you need to have ALL of the MimeMail and SimpleNews modules active in order for it to work properly. If you do not enable all sub-modules, it will not work as expected.

That's what I'm getting from this experience, as this is all I have done with the site between it not working 3 days ago and it working now.

Closing issue as it is resolved, though could I recommend some sort of note in the install or documentation with this info? It could save others' time.

I can confirm what quasar333666 says. I tried what he suggested and also got my simplenews mails sent as html.

Did you check the box off or on for "Use MimeMail for all messages"? Ashford

Yes I did, but with Mime Mail css compressor mails are still not being sent. I still sort of wanna turn the css compressor off though, since it adds weird styles to my newsletters and removes my own inline styles from some pretty complicated newsletter themes :-(

Try downloading SMTP module and add ur SMTP server name in it's configuration settings...This may solve the problem as this worked for me.

I used PHPmail (very similar to SMTP module) and it worked for me. Took a little extra work. I also turned off CSS compression. Simplenews is hardly "simple!"

Thank you thank you thank you! I just spent a day on this tearing out my hair. This needs to be in the simplenews documentation. It would be nice if Mimemail generated an error message that was returned to simplenews, as it is still not clear why this is happening.
