Voting starts in March for the Drupal Association Board election.
deekayen started by suggesting that there aren't enough users of the OpenID module to justify it being in core. Boris Mann, RobLoach, and Dries shot that down and won't fixed the issue as a strategic decision.
catch and chx re-opened the issue. Heine agreeed with Dries on stategy, but saying that we need to work on Open ID 2.0.
webchick pointed out that Heine and Christian made several improvements to OpenID in the 7.x release. Heine suggested that the module needs a rewrite because Open ID 1.1 and 2.0 are handled by the same functions. webchick tried to facilitate some progress on 8.x improvements with amc and taite11.
deekayen proposed another removal patch to bump the thread. chx did +1. Damien Tournoud, sun, RobLoach, 1kenthomas, webchick and others did -1. sun introduced OAuth to the discussion, which gained traction through wojtha and Sylvain Lecoy setting tasks on external auth initiatives. chx later flipped and was ok with OpenID in core since wojtha took over maintainership. After getting some core commits, wojtha flipped and voted to remove OpenID from core. sun switched to "on the fence," but still had hope to stir an initiative. deekayen proposed another removal patch. moshe does a +1.
ParisLiakos attempted to fix OpenID and suggested it's completely out of sync with the rest of core - rolls a new patch. Crell, cweagans, quicksketch, bojanz, walkah, c960657, chx, moshe all +1 so far. The issue gets sent back to Dries by Crell for a strategic discussion. Dries approved OpenID removal and patch #81 is waiting for the QA engine to get fixed. #70 passed QA before the d.o information leak caused infrastructure changes.
