After having disabled this module and then re-enabled it again (as part of a core update procedure), the "Browse..."-button disappeared from the insert image dialog. The only way to get it to work again, as I found, was to uninstall the module and then add it and re-configure it.

MDE does dependency checking when you install or uninstall other modules so that the features that depend on other modules are enabled and disabled accordingly. The only reason this would happen would be if IMCE was disabled when MDE was enabled. I tested this extensively but I didn't try disabling every module and update core. Can you describe in more detail what you did? I'll try to reproduce it.

I am sorry for the unclear report. What I did was to update core, and before doing that I disabled all modules. After updating core and then re-enabling all modules again, this problem appeared, but was resolved by uninstalling the module and then just enabling it again. If you can not see a reason why this could happen, don't bother wasting time on it as long as no others see it and can help pin pointing it. I'll keep on eye on this the next time there is a core update and I perform the whole process again.
