I accidentally deleted the menu containing the "my account" item. It is available from the admin, but I want to return it to being globally available. The item doesn't include an "edit" option so I can move it to a public menu. How to I make this menu item available to the public? Thanks.

Make sure that it is enabled, and, configure the block by setting the option 'Users cannot control whether or not they see this block.'
It should come back..

Ok. I took out all popular content but the title "popular content" is still there and it looks like since I deleted everything the Drupal welcome notice is up and I still have some blocks up. I don't know if that was a good idea to delete everything. But it was the only thing I could think of at the time.
I think what I did a few days ago was somehow in permissions changed the settings. Now that I have the content removed from my site it looks like I've been given the chance to get a new user name and password, This suggests to me that the message is coming from my site treating me as a user and not from Drupal core. If that makes any sense.

In other thread?
Perhaps it's best to keep the discussion in the original thread; that way, the context is clearer for readers.
(I don't have post moving permissions, so I reposted your message in the original thread.)

I had to edit
