im using the default user_relationships_browser view that comes with the module. Its displaying users relationships as it should, but im wondering how I filter just a certain relationship.

I have several relationships, buddy, fan, etc. and if a user has more than one relationship with another user the user is displayed more than once in the views list.

So basically im asking how I set is so it shows only one given relationship rather than all set relationships.

You can add a "User Relationships: Relationship Type" filter to that view. Attaching an example of how it should be configured.
