Problem/Motivation

The current Recur Type for Yearly events is allowing to create multiple instances per year, I think that was planned but thinking on end-user that does not makes sense as the understanding of Yearly event would be it to happen Once a Year.
So here some change suggestions:

  • Change Months checkboxes to be Radio and make it required.
  • Change Event Recurrence Schedule for both values Recur on Day of Week and Recur on Day of Month to be Radios instead of checkboxes and make it required.

That should force the correct behavior for the Yearly events.

Unfortunately, I think this boils down to a difference of opinion. For the content authors on my site, the way it works now does make sense, and they can use the checkboxes to create event series that occur (for example):

  • on the first of the month in January, April, July, and October.
  • on the second Monday of every quarter.
  • on January 1st through the 5th every year.

Changing the fields to radio buttons would remove this flexibility and break the form for anyone that already has events set up this way on their site.
