Meeting Purpose
Collaborate on Balsamiq wireframes for the Member Platform.
Key Takeaways
- Wireframing Session: The team began collaboratively wireframing the Member Platform in Balsamiq, assigning screens to individual owners to ensure focused progress.
- 1.0 Scope Confirmed: The 1.0 release will focus on core, unique platform features. Standard Drupal/CRM admin UIs (e.g., field management) are explicitly out of scope, as they are handled by existing systems.
- Event Views Defined: To accommodate different user needs, the platform will offer two event views: a traditional calendar for visual scanning and a filterable list for efficient searching.
- Join Flow Refined: The user join flow will be simplified by removing the password field for 1.0, deferring it to a future release. The post-submission confirmation UI is also being debated (status message vs. modal).
Topics
Wireframing Kickoff
- The team began wireframing in Balsamiq, using the "mock-up notes" document as the primary requirements guide.
- Process: Each member claimed ownership of a specific screen to avoid duplicate work.
- The session included a demo of Balsamiq's interactive linking feature, which allows users to click buttons in a presentation to navigate between wireframes.
1.0 Scope & Feature Decisions
- Membership Functionality: Not a critical path item for 1.0.
- Rationale: Focus on the limited scope of the initial release.
- Note: Still a high-priority feature for future development.
- Admin UIs: Standard Drupal/CRM admin pages are out of scope for 1.0.
- Event Views: The platform will offer two distinct views for events.
- Calendar View: For users who prefer a visual, month-at-a-glance layout.
- List View: A filterable list for efficient searching, especially useful for groups with few events to avoid excessive whitespace.
- Join Flow Simplification: The password field will be removed from the 1.0 join modal.
- Rationale: Reduces complexity for the initial release.
- Note: The requirement will be documented for future inclusion.
- Confirmation UI: The team is debating the best way to show the "confirmation email sent" message.
Wireframe Feedback & Refinements
- Member Profile Page:
- The "Leave Group" button was removed from the profile page to reduce redundancy, as it will be on the main overview page.
- The "Compose Email" button was moved to the top of the page for better organizer access.
- The design will be simplified by removing unnecessary labels (e.g., "Profile Picture") and using a more modern tag display (free-floating, not boxed).
- Overview Page:
- The banner image was replaced with a smaller group photo to prevent pushing content below the fold.
- Social media links were moved to the bottom of the page, as the primary call to action is to join the group.
- A "Contact Us" section was added, with the final placement (above/below the fold) to be decided.
Next Steps
- All: Continue wireframing assigned screens in Balsamiq.
- JD: Add notes to wireframes and the mock-up notes document to capture open questions (e.g., confirmation UI placement).
- JD: Confirm availability for the Jan 1st meeting or arrange for a team member to lead.
Action Items
- Finish Events wireframes: monthly calendar, list, detail - WATCH (5 secs)
- Update mock-up notes: remove password-set from 1.0; add note; add My Events/Groups future scope - WATCH (5 secs)

@0:01 - Scott Wolpow
Hey.
@0:04 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Hey, good morning, Scott.
@0:07 - Scott Wolpow
Did you scan yourself for antivirus?
@0:12 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
You said you weren't feeling well.
@0:14 - Scott Wolpow
I got it.
@0:15 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
I got it. Boo.
@0:22 - Scott Wolpow
Many, many years ago, was taking a course in C at a local college around the corner from my house, and I created a little program in Visual Basic that was very hard to get rid of.
had to delete it. oh, and a time around, it'll pop up on the screen saying, you've got a autoimmune computer virus that the humans are susceptible.
Please go wash your hands. And I set up, so boot, like the next day, and boot it towards a class that people, someone was taking, like, in Photoshop or Illustrator.
It freaked them all out. Nice.
@1:04 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Hey, good morning, everyone. Morning.
@1:10 - Erica
Morning. I've got a lot of laryngitis, so I'm just listening in today.
@1:14 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Oh, no, Erica.
@1:18 - Erica
I thought I was going to be one that sounded worst on the call. No, I didn't win that competition.
At least feel better.
@1:28 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Don't speak.
@1:30 - Erica
That sounds good. Stick to the text chat.
@1:33 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Thank you. Well, everyone, please add yourself to the meeting notes. There's a link in the Zoom chat or in the Slack channel.
Oh, so much for muting myself. I thought I'd muted myself. You get to hear all my wonderful coughs. And if anybody has a topic they would like discussed on the call, please add it to the notes document.
Thank Great. Anybody have anything?
@3:49 - steven.ayers
I don't know about the topic, but we're getting really close to that beta release.
@4:02 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Vaguely a topic.
@4:07 - Scott Wolpow
That's good to know. I'm trying to make time this weekend to work on the CRM and play with it.
I've updated it. But every weekend I plan to do one thing and other things get in my way.
@4:50 - steven.ayers
Most of the relations stuff we've discussed has been either merged in or has a merge request.
@5:03 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
I did want to ask about the one with the namespaces for the class names and aligning all that. I'll the link in the chat here.
@5:21 - steven.ayers
Yeah, there's a lot going on here. I guess I would say pick your top two issues and we'll discuss them, but there's a lot going on in that marketplace.
I mean, did you want to talk about it in depth right now or are you just bringing it up as a...
@5:47 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Oh, it doesn't have to be right now. Maybe that's a you and me thing. Just, you know, hadn't seen the response in a while.
The other thing I have on my mind as possibly a good activity for this call would be just having everyone dive into the balsamic mock-ups and make some progress on wireframes for the different member platform screens.
I like that's something that we could maybe do collaboratively or individually co-work on and ask each other questions as we go.
So, but if anybody else has a stronger idea, please, by all means.
@6:37 - steven.ayers
Not a stronger idea, but I did use Meetup for the first time in a long time, and it is a terrible experience.
@6:45 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Did you use it as an attendee or as an organizer?
@6:49 - steven.ayers
Just as an attendee, it feels a lot like MySpace when Robert or Rupert Murdoch purchased it, right? Selling, like, pills and stuff.
@7:04 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Sounds about right. That's pretty bad. I don't mind Google Meetup.
@7:14 - Scott Wolpow
Meetup's not too bad. It's, you know, I'm trying to get people who don't know how to find a share screen.
It can be frustrating. Oh, Scott, not Google Meet, but meetup.com. Oh, I mean meetup.com. They have a conferencing system?
I don't think so.
@7:36 - steven.ayers
Or just going to me, yeah.
@7:38 - Scott Wolpow
Yeah, they haven't upped either system in many, many, many, many years.
@7:45 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
All right. Well, let's dive into the mock-ups if folks are game. Does anybody have a, or rather, let me put it this way.
None of you have access to this yet, so please shoot me your email, and I will invite y'all. And that should result in an email in your inbox.
Thank you. Thank you.
@9:35 - Scott Wolpow
Oh, still nothing yet.
@9:40 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Maybe check your spam.
@9:45 - Scott Wolpow
I will check right now. Let's see.
@10:08 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Steve, you have a preference for work or personal email? It was in spam.
@10:15 - steven.ayers
Oh, I mean. Or no, thank you. I mean, it's so far away from what I'm working on that, like.
@10:25 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Fair enough. Cool mockups, dude.
@10:28 - steven.ayers
Keep working on them.
@10:39 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
All right, well, Erica is in, Scott has an invite in his inbox, and Rich, have an invite in your inbox, no pressure.
And it passes.
@10:59 - Scott Wolpow
And it passes. Password, that's when I need to get another password. I just swore I did this before, but maybe not.
Okay.
SCREEN SHARING: Jd started screen sharing - WATCH
@11:13 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
I will share my screen, Erica, for what little... What's the word I'm looking for? Demo-ling I can do here.
So at the top, if you go to the wireframe menu, there's a go to wireframe that has the three wireframes that are there right now.
Two of them have something and one of them does not. And if you go to wireframe and go to new wireframe, that's how you would start a fresh one.
Refresh page or flow or whatever.
@12:22 - Scott Wolpow
I'm answering the 95,000 questions they have to ask me. Okay. There we go.
@12:49 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
And I'll put a link to the mock-up notes document, which is the closest thing we have to requirements for what we're working on here.
And I would encourage everyone to just choose a screen to create as a mockup.
@13:35 - Scott Wolpow
So we're mocking up, we're doing wireframes, the default screens you would see for the profiles of each person or groups?
@13:48 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
As one example. Yeah. So if you click the most recent link I shared in the Zoom chat, you'll get the mockup notes documents, which lists as other headings the different screens that we might...
A lot to create.
@14:17 - steven.ayers
Now, not to beat a dead horse or, I guess, a donkey. You mentioned before how membership actually isn't that important to member platform in terms of functionality.
Okay, I guess. Well, I mean, I was thinking that was probably one of the things along with cases I was going to be working on next after we move to beta.
@14:58 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
I mean, I think you will. Grab people's attention and interest to sort of pile onto that. It's just from a critical path to 1.0 perspective, it's not necessary because of the limited scope of that 1.0.
Did you bring that up related to the wireframes or just occurred to you?
@15:40 - steven.ayers
Just sort of thinking about what's next, Dan. I mean, you have some requirements, but since membership isn't really in there, I'm just...
@16:00 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Yes.
@16:14 - Scott Wolpow
So a member platform, are these just, these are just the public-facing pages. We're not doing the admin pages yet, or they're somewhere lower.
@16:25 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
You can see the admin pages. So this has all the key screens, I think, but if anybody feels like there's something obviously missing, this does not cover things that you just get out of the box with Drupal, right?
And it does not cover things that you get out of the box with CRM. There may be some massaging necessary there, and this is, I would say, sort of a first-pass draft of this stuff.
But if you scroll down... Come to, like, or sorry, to manage RSVP's page. That's going to be sort of an organizer-facing thing.
Event edit page is an organizer-facing thing, right, not a member-facing thing. Member add page for organizers who are adding, you know, a contact.
Directly. Event add edit page. Also for organizers. Manage RSVP flow for organizers. Manage members page for organizers. Email members form for organizers.
And email template management for organizers. So there's a lot there that's for organizers, not for members or the public.
Right.
@17:54 - Scott Wolpow
What I'm saying is where would you, where would add a field page be without, we have to build. Did you say the add a field page?
Yes. If we wanted to add a field for this, let's say for my group kayak, what's your jacket size?
We know to make sure to have a PFT ready for you.
@18:19 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Yeah, good question. So, you know, Drupal, right, provides the field UI for actually adding fields to things.
@18:28 - Scott Wolpow
Right.
@18:28 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
CRM provides, you know, the UI to navigate to the place where you would do that for a contact type.
And so I'm not proposing that we do any special work as it relates to that, at least in the 1.0 time frame.
@18:51 - Scott Wolpow
So we're trying to give them a way so that they can spin this off without having to do any real CSS work themselves.
What does our work? So... Which I think is good.
@19:03 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Yeah, and, well, yeah, it's a big topic, right, to dive into, like, exactly for the different types of audiences for this project.
Like, who does what and when to kind of get things set up initially. But for now, I'm, in this document, I have focused more on what are the key things unique to member platform, right, that members and organizers need to be able to do.
I need to excuse myself for a few minutes, but I'll be back. So feel free to grab a wireframe and start playing around in Balsamic.
Thank you.
@20:01 - Scott Wolpow
Fathom,.ayers.com. So we have a system where a person says, I'll take care of this page, and we don't need three people doing the same wireframe, I don't think.
@20:43 - Rich Gerdes
Yeah, I would think you would identify which one you're working on, maybe put a comment in the doc, and then create a wireframe in Balsami.
I mean, obviously, you can collaborate with people. People can make suggestions, I think, but, yeah. I have one person who was, quote, the owner of that one.
Yeah, yeah, it doesn't seem like he has a system for that yet in the doc, but, yeah, maybe a comment saying, I'll take this on.
@21:19 - Scott Wolpow
I mean, I see, like, the member platform navigation has a PNG, which is mock-up already, so we should be able to say that's done.
@21:31 - Rich Gerdes
Yeah, maybe we can add checkboxes or something to track what's finished or ready for review or something. Thank you.
@22:30 - Scott Wolpow
So who wants to grab what? Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
@25:37 - Bob Snodgrass
Thank you.
@26:02 - steven.ayers
Good morning, Bob. Good morning.
@26:07 - Bob Snodgrass
Can you hear me? No, I'm right.
@26:10 - Scott Wolpow
Oh, good.
@26:11 - Bob Snodgrass
Thanks. My audio is weird. Sorry, I'm late. What are we doing? We must be looking at something.
@26:24 - Rich Gerdes
JD stepped away for a minute, but we are taking a look at the mock-up. The wireframes and Balsamiq mock-ups.
Thank you. He kind of invited us to build mock-ups ourselves. Not my thing.
@26:45 - Bob Snodgrass
They want it to look like a stick figure, maybe.
@26:51 - Rich Gerdes
I mean, Balsamiq really just does wireframes, so it's kind of like stick figures.
@26:54 - Bob Snodgrass
I know.
@26:56 - Scott Wolpow
What is the difference between a counter-events page and I was going to do, but the list of events page, that's kind of the same thing.
Am I missing something?
@27:13 - Rich Gerdes
Those do sound very similar. My guess is that maybe thinking one is like a table versus like a description.
I don't know. So, yeah, I don't know. Well, it looks like the calendar events is more just like a list of stuff where the list is more like a search with filters.
You can ask JD for some clarification there.
@27:42 - Scott Wolpow
Hello.
@27:43 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
He's back. All I heard was ask JD for clarification.
@27:50 - Scott Wolpow
So, was it going to do the calendar events page, which I was about to start wireframing, and the list of events page?
They seem to be the same.
@27:58 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
going Thank you. you. Thank You Yeah, mean, they're showing the same information, but possibly in two different ways. They don't necessarily, I mean, I don't think we need to be overly prescriptive about, like, is it exactly its own page or just there's some way to get to the other view of it.
What are y'all's thoughts?
@28:27 - Scott Wolpow
I'm always for whoever gives the most information based on whoever's looking, since people consume information differently and, like, just have this discussion that on two different sites where they have events listed, but they have, like, two events a month, so these giant calendar pages with nothing in them.
And so I'm always a fan of a straight list view, the list events, can click on it, you can see it, you can go to a calendar if you want to see a calendar, it makes you happy.
@28:59 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Bye.
@29:00 - Scott Wolpow
But if you have two events a month, you don't need to see a big bunch of white space in between all the days that you don't have things.
I mean, I think they're kind of almost the same, just a different view. I mean, look in the one that you have the JPEG of, and that looks like by the calendar, you know, the calendar and featured events, and that's really nice.
And the next question is, if we have this, do we need to make a wireframe for that, or is that redundant?
@29:33 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Sorry, is what thing's redundant?
@29:35 - Scott Wolpow
Well, you have a JPEG, whoever did this did a really nice job of the events JPEG that shows a month, a month view.
SCREEN SHARING: Jd started screen sharing - WATCH
And then on the left, you have some highlighted view, future events, next championship events. If you go into your notes, and then JPEG right there.
@30:03 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Yeah, so that JPEG, that was B's kind of first stab and was in the context of what he needs for his project, but it's a good thing to reference and take inspiration from.
@30:20 - Scott Wolpow
And so far on the, we only have one wireframe, correct?
@30:26 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
There are two in progress. Go to wireframe menu and go to wireframe, or three in progress, it looks like.
And Bob, you have an invite to this balsamic in your inbox, and Eric, please share me your email address if you'd like to get access and contribute on the call here.
@30:51 - Scott Wolpow
So while you're out doing whatever you're doing, I suggest that others have agreed that we take ownership of something.
Thank you. Thank you. You don't get three people working on the same thing.
@31:03 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Yes.
@31:06 - Scott Wolpow
So I put my name down to the events list, but I see someone else is working on, calendar events, but I see someone else is working on that, and someone else was at the list of events page.
I don't know. It just says. Well, you can see what already exists in Balsamiq, and if it's not there, definitely nobody's working on it.
Okay, well, I didn't know if someone just started working on it now.
@31:30 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Sure. All right, Eric, you should have an invite in your inbox as well.
@31:38 - Eric Wheeler
Thank you. Oh, there you are.
@31:43 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
And, yeah, so Bob and Eric, I'm sure others caught you up, but we're just working on wireframes. So everyone can pick a wireframe and get working on it in Balsamiq and ask each other questions as we go.
@31:58 - Bob Snodgrass
Yep, thanks. people. But they don't work.
@32:00 - Scott Wolpow
you working on a particular wireframe right now?
@32:06 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Why don't you tell us which one you'd like to work on, Scott?
@32:09 - Scott Wolpow
I can work on the calendar events page, but then I think we have an events calendar. I don't know if someone's working on that right now or not.
@32:19 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
No, that's pre-existing. was already here.
@32:29 - Scott Wolpow
And the Venge JPEG, that was from someone before, so we shall recreate that so it's all in the same pattern and all in the same spot.
@32:36 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
No, I would not assume that we should recreate what's in those old JPEGs. That was one person's first attempt at some of this stuff before we had any of this documentation that we're looking at now.
But if there are elements of that that you feel are valuable and should be there. I'm saying recreating, making it so it's all in the same thing.
@33:00 - Scott Wolpow
It's not part in BOSOMIC, part in JPEGs.
@33:04 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Correct. All I'm saying is I don't think you should assume that all the things that are in the JPEGs should continue to exist.
@33:10 - Scott Wolpow
Okay. I agree with that. All right. So I'm going work on the event calendar.
@33:51 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Anybody working on the overview? If not, I will claim it. Thank you.
@34:43 - Scott Wolpow
Thank you. Thank you.
@35:00 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Puzzling about how to make the join modal. I think there's not a lot to it. It's just got a few form fields, a link, and a submit button, right?
Or are you wondering about the sort of interactive elements of it?
@35:47 - Eric Wheeler
I've never used this before. I was just trying to figure out how get to Yeah, yeah, for sure.
@35:51 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
You missed earlier when I shared my screen. I'm in the same boat.
@35:57 - Bob Snodgrass
Sorry. Sorry to be late. All good. good. All good.
@36:00 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
all have questions, pipe up. That's why we're here. Thank you. Thank you.
@37:34 - Scott Wolpow
Thank you. Thank you. Is there an auto line here so I can get all the text to line up properly?
@38:56 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
I think if you just drag the block of text, it'll have... Do some sense of that?
@39:06 - Scott Wolpow
It's not an automatic alignment.
@39:11 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
See what you get when you drag it around. That's, I think, the best thing you get.
@39:15 - Scott Wolpow
I made five separate boxes, each with its own text, so I can move them around. I suppose it gets done in one box, but, okay.
I know. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
@42:30 - Bob Snodgrass
Let's go through to this.
@43:07 - Scott Wolpow
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank Thank you.
Thank Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Oh, my goodness. Thank Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. So we're Thank you. Thank you.
@57:46 - steven.ayers
I have another meeting I need to get to, I'm going to let me drop. Very good.
@57:53 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
See you later.
@57:56 - Scott Wolpow
Can you stand with me in a minute? I'm to make two views.
@58:03 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Sorry, what was that, Scott?
@58:05 - Scott Wolpow
I said I made two wireframes, one for, I cleaned up a little bit the events monthly, you know, by the month, and I'm doing list view now.
@58:16 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Nice. And add some more functionality.
@58:36 - Scott Wolpow
And I'll add some more, like, you know, I'm doing list view, just list events coming up, but there should be one that's a detail view, and one that's a pure list.
I figured out how copy a wireframe, rename them.
@59:17 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Excellent. Take care, Bob.
@59:19 - Scott Wolpow
Well, as I was saying, well, do you know this application? I said, they're all the same application, just know where the controls are.
You know, I may not, I can figure out how in Photoshop, how to create a new image. I may not be able to manipulate the image and do professional work, but I can find the tools.
ACTION ITEM: Finish Events wireframes: monthly calendar, list, detail - WATCH
All right, so I'll finish up all the event ones. A little someone else wants to grab it.
@59:53 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
That looks good. Okay.
@59:56 - Scott Wolpow
Okay. All right, if the audience is going to jump on my next call.
@1:00:12 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
No, I'm going to assume we're probably not having a Slack meeting on December 25th. I'll probably take that week off, and I personally will be unavailable on January 1st for our Zoom call, but I'll see if anybody else would like to run that or reschedule that on a different day.
@1:00:37 - Scott Wolpow
Yeah, and January 1st, I plan to be waking up around this time.
@1:00:42 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Very good. Have nice day. Take care, Scott. All right, have a good day. Anybody still going? I'll stick around and keep clicking here.
Yeah.
@1:01:00 - Eric Wheeler
I need to drop, we just, well, I'm on vacation, but we just dropped our, we lost our entire research cluster, so that's not good.
Uh-oh.
@1:01:12 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Well, good luck, Eric, good to see you. The downside of running everything, the environment, the host goes down, you lose everything.
@1:01:20 - Eric Wheeler
Yeah, for sure.
@1:01:29 - JD Leonard (modernbizconsulting.com)
Uh, did you make any, uh, progress, Erica? haven't peaked yet. Yeah, all right, let me see here. Ooh, look at this.
SCREEN SHARING: Jd started screen sharing - WATCH
All right, let share my screen in case. That's helpful. Of course, now I can't see your chat so well.
Here we go, now I can see your chat. Um, cool. Join. Nice. Now, I think, if I recall, from when I used Balsamiq about a dozen years ago, that it has the capability to have this be a more sophisticated flow of screens.
If you go to, like, the Join button and you go to Links, you can link it to a different wireframe.
So you can basically cause somebody, when you're viewing this, to click on Join to get to that Join screen or that Join wireframe, which is kind of fancy.
I don't remember if there's an even more sophisticated version of that or not. It might not be, but... Did that make sense?
Let me see if I can demonstrate if you're not already doing it. So if I do a link here and I say link to a duplicate of this wireframe, and I go to edit that one.
So this one I'm going to call join, well, maybe we'll say success. And we get rid of all this stuff on the join success one, because all we want is the part that's actually the success.
Oh, there's more. It's exciting. Cool. All right, well, let's do... All Oh, user clicks confirmation email. So that kind of appears somewhere different.
All right, well, I'll think about that in a second. If I go back to the join flow, and I get rid of these pieces here, and I go, all right, and then I go to view, full screen presentation.
This is telling me some things I can do. L for link hints will be the most useful one, I guess.
Okay. So I can, clicking on join didn't do anything. Link hints, no. Oh, this is, no. Well, that's not doing what I thought it would.
Okay. Let's see. This says Command or Control-Click to open. So it does let you navigate. For me, if I hold Option on my keyboard and I click on that, it navigates to the screen, which is kind of handy.
But there's supposed to be like a... Oh, here. A full-screen presentation, I think, is supposed to let you actually click on it.
I don't know why that's not working. Hmm. Yeah, I agree. If you want to make it happen, go for it.
Sure. Using links in presentation. When you're done linking up your wireframes, you can enter fullscreen presentation mode, and you'll be able to click on the links you set up to test your prototype.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. You Thank you. Links are disabled while comments are active. That's why it's not working. If I undo, let's see, user test.
Ah, now it works. So if I'm in the user test mode of the full screen, then I can actually click on join to get to the next wireframe.
So in summary, full screen presentation. I don't know if that's showing up on my screen share. We'll get you there.
That's what is set after confirmation instead of original form. Yeah. Did we, at some point we had a discussion, I had a discussion with somebody about passwords.
I think what we said is because we don't know the, it was with you, we don't know the context of the existing site that member platform might be being applied to.
So we need to assume that there might be passwords, but perhaps we want to provide the option to have a setup where there's just, you just get sent a link, right, a magic link to log in, so that we reduce the complexity in some ways, right, for the end user by not having to remember, set and remember a password.
But we still need to provide that password set form for cases where passwords are a thing. I'm just doodling here.
I had a comment explaining that in the wireframe, yeah, that's a good idea. Thank Thank you. Yeah, I'm kind of torn on it.
I think we maybe didn't include it for simplicity to just keep the scope more limited. But I understand like a lot of, it's a common thing you find on social networks and things like that, right?
ACTION ITEM: Update mock-up notes: remove password-set from 1.0; add note; add My Events/Groups future scope - WATCH
I think I'm in favor of omitting it for the moment, but maybe adding a note for possible future inclusion.
I'll leave the documentation adjustment to you there, if I may. Okay. I think a note, I would say a note on the mock-up notes and maybe just remove it from the wireframe.
Thank you. Thank you. My events, my groups. I agree. My groups is not in scope. My events is like a nice to have.
That's, I think, safe to say not in scope for 1.0. But I would love to capture that for future.
ACTION ITEM: Update Member Profile wireframe: remove Leave Group; move Compose Email; remove labels; refine tags; add private-tags placeholder - WATCH
Thank you. Nice. Thank you. All right, so little bits of feedback. I feel like edit profile is often kind of like just sort of hovering near the profile picture or something like somewhere like that.
So maybe it doesn't need to be sort of in its own section. Leave group. Interesting. So we said we'd have a leave group on the profile page.
Did we? Where does that do? To leave. Yeah, I guess that makes some sense. I don't know. I'm having second thoughts on the leave group on this page.
In part because we're going to have it on the overview page, the sort of homepage-y thing. So it won't be hard to find.
But I could be convinced. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Visually, tags are often free-floating, not kind of constrained by a box, and kind of like even labeled as tags.
I'm kind of thinking like, let's see, I don't know if they have anything like this. I mean, this is intense, but this is kind of the idea, right?
Not there, but hypothetically, what if it was just sort of like this? Maybe not so many tags. Maybe not?
Maybe not. you. That could be improved, for sure, from what I've done. I'm also thinking, realistically, somebody's not going to have that many visible tags on their profile.
You know, the sort of, like, flare tags. So, we can probably improve that. Profile picture probably doesn't need to be labeled.
Yes, I agree. needs to support the overflow. Like, when you visit a profile, it doesn't say profile. I almost wonder if we could get rid of all the boxes here.
Yeah, I'm just thinking, like, on the wireframe, it like, we shouldn't show things that aren't going to be there.
When you say designer can use context, do you mean about, like, profile picture the label, or are talking about something else?
Yeah, I mean, I think they'll know it's the profile picture, right? So, let's see, what does this look like?
don't know if this helps or hinders. What do you think? Yeah, no, fair enough. But what are your thoughts?
I'm just playing around. I don't know if I think this is better. I don't know if think this is
What do we think about joined versus member sense? Member sense. And I'm a fan of just sticking like an actual date in as a placeholder.
I mean, right, we're not like claiming that that was a real date, but. Does this get centered? Thank you.
Thank you. I think we get rid of the leave from here. The member directory page header in mock-up. Oh, you mean in the mock-up notes.
Member directory. Get rid of leave. Oh, they're missing. Do you mean Member Profile? Oh, okay. So Member Profile, we've got the Compose Email.
Here we had said a link or button to compose an email. Are you proposing that this belong was sort of embedded at the bottom of the page?
Oh, this is Organizer Comments. Oh, I see, I see, I see. Never mind. Oh, yeah, interesting. Oh, yeah, interesting.
Got it. I would say maybe the Compose Email button just belongs up at the top where Edit Profile is, because presumably that's something else that an organizer could do.
I don't know if this is the right way to do this as a comment, only for what it is.
Did my comment go somewhere or no? I don't think it did. Maybe instead of a comment, I'll add a newt.
Oh, they called a comet. Well, that's weird. So maybe we can get rid of this box. Maybe this just sort of fits underneath this stuff here.
What do you think? I didn't like that. Organize our comments, maybe. Yeah, presumably we'll have some other things show up here.
Like we've said, there might be other fields that need to be, you know, surfaced, depending on the use case.
I don't think there would be many tags, typically. Although I think it's an interesting... Yeah, I agree. I think it's interesting to think about, you know, we've said like the public facing tags go here, but as an organizer, should I see...
Non-public tags here as well? Maybe. But I'm not sure. Do we want to have a placeholder for that? Ain't it in the butt?
Something like that? You're right. You're absolutely right. It's kind of a little awkward. It's placed, but it gets the concept across, right?
Maybe private tags. This is looking pretty good. Any other thoughts you have about this page so far? Cool. All right.
Begin to take a look at the overview. This is still in progress, but something like this. Yes. but Now we've said, I don't know if we talked about a banner image here, what did we say?
We said group photo, which I have interpreted as a banner image, I don't know what the, that's what our intent was.
Any thoughts on that? The top fold, you mean just it pushing everything down? Sure. Yeah, fair enough. Let's see.
Just out of curiosity, what does Meetup do? So they've got a photo to the side of some of the information.
Which I think addresses somewhat what you're talking about, right? Yeah, okay. Something more like this. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. you. Thank you. Thank This needs a lot of massaging, but... They've got their social links at the top, which we have at the bottom, and they've got their number of members here.
We've got them in two places. Yeah, I agree. I I don't know if social links are, like, so key.
Also, just thinking about how a group name could be longer, right? It's not going to let me wrap it, is it?
Yes, agreed, agreed, agreed. I've made up this name, but I think it's something similar to what somebody on our team is involved with.
Are you proposing do you think we put the social media up there? We could just put a bunch of buttons like this, no?
I think I agree it's secondary to the point here. Wait, which one makes sense to you? Because I'm blip-plopping.
I guess, yeah, I guess it kind of depends, like, if this is the homepage for the organization, then they may care more to elevate their social links and stuff.
Although, I guess the real call to action is for you to join if you're not a member. So, I don't know, I think this is the right prioritization.
It seemed to give me a way to vertically center this. Oh, well. Thank I'm getting too caught up in the details here, but.
I suppose, well, I put this here because I wanted a longer title as an example, longer name as an example, but now this Frisbee image doesn't make much sense, huh?
Thank you. You're not wrong. Hey, now we're talking. Except that it took it over. Took over the whole thing.
ACTION ITEM: Update Overview wireframe: add Contact Us note; add Join confirmation note; refine layout - WATCH
Oh, no, there he is. Okay. Hey, look at that. Cool, cool. All right. What's your feedback on this so far?
Contact us button. Hmm. That's an interesting point. Yes, I think conceptually I agree. We haven't talked about having a contact form, but that makes some sense.
Or it could just be an email address, right? That's the minimal approach. Hmm. Do you think that belongs above the fold, or do you think it belongs more, like, down with the social links?
And I'm thinking for different organizations, they might have email address. think club? Yes. Do Phone number, contact form, we've got some different kind of options.
Oh yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about how to use the space, like this is sort of step one, like we're in, in my mind we're in sort of sketch territory, a little less heavy on the design.
Yeah, maybe, but I mean, I'm drawing an ambiguously defined line here. I don't know if I'm going to figure that out right now, but how about we add a note here about about about
That. Where does contact info belong? These profile pictures are creepy. Now that we're visualizing it, is there anything else that you feel like belongs on this overview page slash homepage?
Thank Yeah, maybe it'll become clearer as we start to connect the wireframes and, well, speaking of, this can go to join modal, huh?
How about that? And then I can click on it. And then I can click on it. What happens when you click OK on the we send a confirmation email thing?
Right. Duh. Let's see. Yeah, maybe. I'm also wondering whether this belongs as like a standard Drupal message at the top, like a status message at the top of the page, rather than a modal that then requires an additional action.
So. Oh, look, it's got a modal dialog thing. And we just thought to search for that. So maybe you want to, you know.
Play around with that. that. But you go to join. I'm kind of torn because the call to action here is they need to go to their email, right?
That could go either place in the modal or the message at the top of the screen. If it's the message at the top of the screen, I'm wondering what state they are in.
Are they logged in to an unconfirmed account? I don't know. Like, in other words, is this join button still here?
They return to this page. I'm not sure whether they're in a logged in state of some sort or not.
Hmm. Well, I'll add this. Let's see. Here we've said if user with an email address already exists. So we can't necessarily log them in, right, at this state.
I think it's more, I think they stay logged out. There's the simpler approach. Yeah, I'm just thinking there's a concept of, like, being logged in in an unconfirmed state where you don't really have permission to do anything.
But, yeah, I agree, I agree. I'll put up just a question here. Should this live in a status message versus in a modal?
Thank you. Meetup's version of this is very busy. There's a lot going on here. I don't think that's a good thing.
It is interesting to me that they have two columns, whereas we've sort of spread it out into just one column of these things.
I don't know that I have a preference exactly for one or the other. This one makes it easier for things to feel a little less smushed, maybe.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. For sure, for sure. Cool. Well, I think I'm about done. Thanks for sticking around.
Yeah, for sure. Thanks so much, Erica. Feel better. I've never had laryngitis, but I gather it is not fun.
So all the best. Yes, good progress. I think this was the best possible activity for me that I could have done today.
If don't talk to you sooner, we'll see you after the holidays. Thank you. Bye.
