1,000 Drupal Gardens was a temporary name for this project. Drupal Forge is the permanent project home.

This project will empower non-technical users to move a trial site to permanent hosting and to become Drupal resellers. The initial target user is one who currently uses a SaaS site builder such as Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress.com to create sites for clients. Users will be able to launch a trial site with one click and start creating content. The site will have a widget to subscribe to permanent hosting. Users who register as resellers can bundle services such as content creation into subscriptions and split subscription revenue as they choose. For example, they could split revenue with a developer who supports their product.

This project was created to support the Starshot initiative. The Starshot initiative will create a ready-made Drupal product for non-technical users. One of the reasons Drupal has not developed as a consumer product is that people did not make money from Drupal as a consumer product. If non-technical users could build recurring revenue by reselling a consumer Drupal product, they would benefit from contributing time and money to its improvement.

Our intention is for this project to be adopted as an official part of the Starshot initiative. We think our project is the best candidate for the Drupal CMS product launch button. The subscription widget will provide paths for clients to move their sites to other hosting providers.

Our initial product is the Starshot prototype. We will work to make the Starshot prototype more newbie-friendly until the Starshot initiative releases an official Drupal CMS product. We will work with business partners to package Drupal with hosting and payment processing for resellers. Business partners may allow resellers to offer products other than Drupal. More technical users can use the project to offer their own products. More technical users may also choose to use only the services they need instead of the whole package.

The people who first discussed the need for this project thought it could empower a thousand resellers to offer a similar service. Buzzr is a Drupal product created for non-technical site administrators. The Buzzr Private Label platform is a white label solution (your brand on their platform) for resellers to offer Buzzr sites to their clients.

Try Drupal

Try Drupal is a demo of 1xINTERNET’s Drupal product. Users can spin up their own demo just by logging in. Try Drupal was the inspiration for the initial Starshot prototype.
