Problem/Motivation
If you have many view modes of some structured type - it becomes annoying on the Manage display to find / pick required view mode, because each view mode visually taking full width of screen.

Try to guess 10x times more view modes than on screenshot above. User need to scroll a lot to find its view mode.
Steps to reproduce
1. Standard profile installation
2. Enable "Media" module
3. Go here /admin/structure/display-modes/view/add/media and create several view modes (like.. 8-10) for Image type
4. Then go here /admin/structure/media/manage/image/display and in Custom display settings section select all view modes you just created.
5. That's all. But i think this issue is not only related to Medias, but to any Manage displays.
Proposed resolution
Maybe in case of many view modes we have to replace tabs by dropbutton ?

smustgrave commentedIf we are going to update the twig templates we will have to update all them and provide a CR for contrib themes to update theirs.

ckrinaThanks for the proposed solutions, bit this needs to create a new design pattern instead of reusing existing ones. So the next step here is to come up with a better design.

devitate commentedThe Primary tabs works as a dropdown already, and also has some responsive aspect to when it drops.
Why not just remove the lines blocking the secondary tabs from the same behavior?
Then possibly:

quietone commentedThe Claro theme was approved for removal in #3576460: [policy, no patch] Deprecate and remove Claro.
This is Postponed. The status is set according to two policies. The Remove a core extension and move it to a contributed project and the Extensions approved for removal policies.
The deprecation work is in #3576668: [meta] Tasks to deprecate Claro and the removal work in #3584638: [meta] Tasks to remove the Claro theme.
