mkindred commentedI was suffering from this issue. I applied the patch from MR20, and it seems to have solved the problem for me.

rozzi commentedI'm not yet 100% sure my issue is caused by SHS, but I get "This entity (taxonomy_term: X) cannot be referenced." upon the following conditions, though not consistently enough to reliably reproduce. I just know we've run into the issue more than once.
In the described scenario, those and other fields are set to use SHS. I use SHS 3.0.0-beta5 on the latest Drupal 11. It's a production site, but if there are ways I can help pinpoint the issue or definitively attribute it to SHS, let me know what to try.

alexpottI can confirm that the steps to reproduce in the issue summary are correct and the fix looks good too. Going to add an automated test and provide MR for 2.0.x and 3.0.x branches.

alexpottBumping this issue to critical - deleting a taxonomy term should not prevent you from being able to edit content.

alexpottAs I've only added test coverage to this issue I feel in a good position to RTBC it. I've reproduced the problem locally and proved the fix. I've also added automated test coverage to ensure that we don't regress. The new test fails when it is run without the fix - see https://git.drupalcode.org/issue/shs-3359851/-/jobs/11671994
I've also provided an MR for the 3.0.x branch.
