The v3 branch gives some significant improvements that unfortunately were only possible with some changes that are not fully back-compatible.
1) The submitted template is much simpler and closer to Drupal core. If you have customised this template, please take a copy of the new base template and apply your customisations again.
Before:
<footer>
{{ user_picture }}
<div{{ author_attributes }}>
{% if link_path -%}
{% if date -%}
{% trans %}Submitted by <a{{ attributes }}>{{ name }}{{ extra }}</a> on {{ date }}{% endtrans %}
{%- else -%}
{% trans %}Submitted by <a{{ attributes }}>{{ name }}{{ extra }}</a>{% endtrans %}
{%- endif -%}
{%- else -%}
{% if date -%}
{% trans %}Submitted by <span{{ attributes }}>{{ name }}{{ extra }}</span> on {{ date }}{% endtrans %}
{%- else -%}
{% trans %}Submitted by <span{{ attributes }}>{{ name }}{{ extra }}</span>{% endtrans %}
{%- endif -%}
{%- endif -%}
{{ metadata }}
</div>
</footer>
After:
<footer>
{{ user_picture }}
<div{{ author_attributes }}>
{% if date -%}
{% trans %}Submitted by {{ author_name }} on {{ date }}{% endtrans %}
{%- else -%}
{% trans %}Submitted by {{ author_name }}{% endtrans %}
{%- endif -%}
{{ metadata }}
</div>
</footer>Corresponding fragment of node template:
<footer>
{{ author_picture }}
<div{{ author_attributes }}>
{% trans %}Submitted by {{ author_name }} on {{ date }}{% endtrans %}
{{ metadata }}
</div>
</footer>
2) The CSS classes used in the submitted formatter HTML are now more logical and match Drupal Core. If you have created CSS then please check the new HTML and update your CSS if necessary.
- Before: the date was inside the author CSS classes.
- After: each field has its own CSS classes in the normal way.
3) The "Title" formatter now matches Drupal Core "Plain text" formatter. This has caused a schema change. The name of the setting has changed from 'linked' to 'link_to_entity'. Sites will be updated automatically. If you have written code to programmatically modify the setting then you will need to modify your code.
4) Allow changing of the date format used by the "Submitted" formatter.
- Before: the date format was always the default. The Manage Display settings of the 'created' field were ignored, and the field was hidden by default.
- After: the date format is taken from the Manage Display settings of the 'created' field. If the field is hidden, the date is not shown.
Sites will be updated automatically. When creating new sites, please take into account the new system.
5) Improvements to display of comments. The comment HTML from this module is now almost identical to when using Drupal Core without this module.
- New "In reply to" formatter that indicates the semantic relationship between parent and child comments for accessibility (visually hidden).
- New customised submitted template specifically for comments (
submitted--comment.html.twig). - Override formatter output for comment base fields to match Drupal Core. a) Use the Comment Author name rather than always "Anonymous". b) Use the permalink for the subject
.
Sites will be updated automatically. When creating new sites, please take into account the new system.
