Problem/Motivation
If the Package Manager module is not found, then the message on the configuration page /admin/config/development/project_browser has the "Allow installing via UI (experimental)" option disabled, with the message
The ability to install modules via the Project Browser UI requires Package Manager version 2.5 or newer. Package Manager is provided as part of the Automatic Updates module.
An inexperienced user might not know how to enable this feature.
The message does not distinguish between
- Package Manager is not added to the site (in the codebase).
- Package Manager is added but not installed (enabled).
Steps to reproduce
- Install Drupal with the Standard profile and no contrib modules other than Project Browser.
- Add and enable the Project Browser module.
- Visit
/admin/config/development/project_browser.
Proposed resolution
Make the text "Automatic Update" link to the project page: https://www.drupal.org/project/automatic_updates.
If the Package Manager module is in the codebase but is not installed, then replace the message with one that recommends installing it, with a link to the Extend page (/admin/modules).

benjifisherAfter I added the Automatic Updates module and enabled the included Package Manager module, I saw the following warning message on
/admin/modules/browse:When I see this message, I have to go back to the configuration page. It would be more convenient if this message appeared on the configuration page, either before enabling the "Allow installing via UI (experimental)" option or after I check the box and submit the form.
I am not sure whether to expand the scope of this issue or to open a new one.
Also, the link text "the help page" is not ideal for screen readers, which often list all links without context.
